The UK Government has today announced that all care home residents and staff, in England, will have access to vital coronavirus testing regardless of whether they’re displaying symptoms.
However, the Welsh Government has ruled against expanding COVID-19 testing for all residents of care homes in Wales.
Commenting on the announcement, Tomos Dafydd Davies said:
I am deeply disappointed with the Welsh Governments has ruled against expanding testing for all care home residents in Wales.
The coronavirus does not discriminate against national boundaries. It's time that common sense prevailed and a four-nation approach was pursued to tackle this wretched pandemic together."
